Clinic, sterilization, and equipment
How the clinic works, what protocols we follow, and what equipment we use.
The clinic
Ometz Dental is in Barrio Mburucuyá, Asunción, Paraguay. The exact street is confirmed before the formal opening. The space is designed to be welcoming and colorful — not clinical-cold. It reflects the philosophy: think before touching.

Sterilization protocol
Infection control is non-negotiable. Every instrument is sterilized between patients. I follow CDC and ADA guidelines for dental infection control.
- All instruments autoclaved at 134°C for 18 minutes (Class B sterilizer)
- Biological indicator test weekly to verify sterilization efficacy
- Single-use items (needles, suction tips, gloves, masks) for every patient
- Hand hygiene with alcohol gel before and after each patient
- Surfaces disinfected with hospital-grade disinfectant between patients
- Water lines flushed and tested quarterly
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) for staff at all times
Equipment I use
Modern equipment isn't a luxury — it affects diagnostic accuracy, treatment quality, and patient comfort. Here's what I have:
- Digital x-ray system (lower radiation than film, instant images)
- Intraoral camera (so you can see what we see in your mouth)
- Class B autoclave (the highest standard for dental sterilization)
- Composite curing light (LED, calibrated monthly)
- Magnification loupes (4.5x) for detailed work
- Premium German composite materials (Voco, Ivoclar)
Materials I use
Materials matter. Cheap materials fail faster, look worse, and sometimes contain compounds I wouldn't want in my own mouth. Here's what I work with:
- Composite: German-made (Voco, Ivoclar) — premium tier, not the cheapest
- Crowns: zirconia from a premium lab (not PFM, not economy)
- Implant components: Straumann or Neodent (both well-documented)
- Endodontic files: heat-treated NiTi, single-use when possible
- Burs: diamond and carbide from established manufacturers
- Anesthetics: articaine and mepivacaine (modern, well-tolerated)
What I don't do (and why)
Being honest about what I don't do is part of being honest about what I do.
- Surgical implant placement — referred to a maxillofacial specialist I work with
- Complex orthodontics — referred to a specialist orthodontist
- Complex pediatric cases (under 10) — referred to a pediatric dentist
- General anesthesia / sedation — referred to a hospital setting
- Hospital-grade oral surgery — referred to the hospital
Patient comfort
Dental anxiety is real. I work to make the experience as comfortable as possible.
- Explain every step before it happens — no surprises
- Pause whenever you ask — you control the pace
- Topical anesthetic before injections (numbing gel)
- Headphones and music available
- Blanket if you get cold in the AC
- Take breaks during long procedures
- If you're anxious, we can discuss options (anxiolytics, longer appointments, etc.)
